ABOUT ME

From Polio Survivor to Principal Strategist

A journey of resilience, clarity, and decisive moves.

Life Journey Narrative

I was born in 1980, at the very height of the polio epidemic. Within months, the virus left me paralyzed from neck to toe. The prognosis was grim. But by the end of my first year, I had fought my way back halfway.

Childhood was anything but ordinary. Between the ages of six and fifteen, I went through nine corrective surgeries—each one painful, each one necessary to learn to stand tall, without braces, on my own two feet.

At sixteen, the same body that once could not move became my instrument for sport. I trained in cricket under some of the finest coaches and competed at the club level for two years. I won two championships in table tennis, a bronze medal in gymnastics for rope climbing, and competed as an under-19 swimmer. The boy who once struggled to walk became an athlete.

Alongside, I nurtured my mind and imagination. At eleven, I completed a diploma in software. By twelve, I was already working as a trainee. At seventeen, I had an honors diploma in software engineering. By twenty-one, I was Vice President of HR in a mid-sized software company. Words were my other refuge—I spent evenings writing ghazals as a ghostwriter, crafting verses that belonged to others but carried pieces of me.

At twenty-three, I ventured into entrepreneurship, acquiring a national distribution company. I sold it back at twenty-five, gaining lessons that would stay for life. Soon after, I entered the world of finance at JP Morgan. Then came Hong Kong and Marcus Evans, where I cut my teeth on the toughest sales floor in the world—a bootcamp in grit and persuasion.

By twenty-seven, I was ready. In a hostel room in Singapore, I founded Instaura. Its purpose was simple yet ambitious: to help founders secure the two resources without which no company survives—capital and people. What began in a hostel grew, within a few years, into a boutique investment banking outfit. And by 2011, Instaura had become a name synonymous with high-stakes problem-solving.

Over the years, our numbers told their own story:
– 2,500+ founders advised
– 250+ decisive breakthroughs delivered
– Over $2B in capital moved

But numbers are only the surface. From the trenches of global markets and the crucibles of entrepreneurial struggle, I refined an idea—the idea that success is not about noise, but about signal. Today, Instaura is the world’s first Signal Consulting firm: a partner to founders and investors who need clarity to make one decisive move.

Spiritual Thread

Through each surgery, each setback, I carried a quiet belief: that struggle itself is a teacher. Over time, that belief became a spiritual discipline—an anchor of resilience and optimism that still guides me today.

Closing Note

My journey has been anything but linear. It has been a topsy-turvy, cinematic path—surgeries, setbacks, breakthroughs, wins. If there is a common thread, it is resilience: a refusal to be defined by circumstance, and an instinct to turn each fall into a higher rise.

I owe my survival and my strength to three forces:
Acumen — the ability to see patterns before they emerge
Resilience — the mind that refuses to break under adversity
Optimism — a conviction that no matter how hard the night, morning will come

And at the center of all of this, my family—my wife and my three sons—the axis around which everything else turns. They are my true signal.
